Thursday Night Report 6th October 2005                       

True Grit at Three Shires Head

Crew : Chris Palmer, Pete Austin, Lucas Mollan, Graham Kershaw (eventually), Andy Thornton, Mawdsley, Dave Cole, Phil Ball 

Route : Bus to The Cat & Fiddle - Danebower Hollow - A54 - Three Shires Head Loop - A54 - Crag Hall - Greenaway Bridge - The Plague Stone - The Hanging Gate - Home     

Weather: OK if a bit murky 

Items of interest :

• Another classic Kershaw route choice......only he did not manage to do it this time !
• ...but full marks for effort to Mr Kershaw - he ended up doing a solo Macc Forest route & meeting us all in the Hanging Gate after a first attempt at driving up to the C & F and cycling halfway along Danebower Hollow to cop a puncture and discover he had no pump.
• Three Shires bit of the route was marred with pedal cleats jammed full of sand and terminal chain suck - a very dodgy combination when there is a steep drop to your right ! Luke and Pete were frequent victims    
• We retired to the Blue Room of the HG and tried to tune the conversation accordingly
• Excellent food and portions ! Despite the implications of the photo we only got to PINT 4
